If you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a small commission. You never pay more because of it. We only link to things we use ourselves or have watched work for people we care about — and we’ve turned down more partnerships than we’ve accepted.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a normal link with a tag on it that tells the company we sent you. If you buy, they pay us a percentage of the sale. The company absorbs that cost out of their own margin — it is not added to your price. In most cases you pay exactly what you would have paid going to their site directly, and sometimes less, because a few of our partners give our readers a discount.
We use affiliate links because they let us keep the writing on this site free, and free of advertising. We would rather be paid a small amount by a company we already believe in than sell banner space to whoever bids highest.
What it doesn’t change
This is the part that matters, so we want to be direct about it.
- Commission does not buy a recommendation. No company has ever paid us to be featured here, and we don’t accept payment for placement or for a positive review.
- We recommend things we don’t earn on. A good portion of what we point people toward — growing your own food, sunlight, sleep, filtered water, walking, rest, prayer — has no affiliate program attached. Food comes first, and food isn’t a product.
- We say what we don’t like. Where a tool has a real drawback — a steep learning curve, a high price, a limitation the sales page glosses over — we write that down on the page, next to the buy link.
- We’ve declined partnerships. Products that make claims we can’t support, or that we simply didn’t find useful, don’t appear here regardless of what the commission would have been.
Why our product pages look different
Most affiliate sites send you straight to a sales page. Ours don’t. Every product page on this site teaches first — what the thing does, who it’s actually for, who it isn’t for, and what it costs — and the link sits at the bottom, after you have enough to decide. If you read the page and conclude it isn’t for you, the page did its job.
Who we have relationships with
We maintain affiliate relationships with a limited number of companies whose products we use personally. That list currently includes, among others: Hallelujah Diet, TrueRife, Spooky2, Solex (AO Scan), Relax Sauna, Thermomix, Norwex, NuCalm, SimplyO3, Healthy Wave, WaterWise, and NuXtrax.
This list changes as we add products and drop ones we no longer stand behind. Every individual page that contains an affiliate link says so on that page, near the link — you should never have to come here to find out.

Our own products
Some of what we recommend is ours — books, guides, and the retreats we lead. When that’s the case we say so, and you should read those recommendations knowing we benefit directly.
Cookies, and how long they last
When you click an affiliate link, the company typically places a cookie in your browser so they can credit us if you buy. Depending on the company, that window ranges from about 24 hours to 90 days. You can clear these cookies at any time through your browser settings, and doing so costs you nothing — it only means we don’t get credited. The legal part
This disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255, Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. We disclose material connections on the pages where they appear as well as here.
Prices, availability, and program terms change. Anything we quote was accurate when we wrote it. Always confirm current pricing and terms on the seller’s own site before you buy.
We are not the seller. When you purchase through one of our links, your contract is with that company. Shipping, returns, warranties, billing, and support are theirs to handle. If something goes wrong with an order, contact them first — they can see your order and we can’t. If they don’t make it right, tell us. We want to know.

If we wouldn’t use it ourselves, it doesn’t belong on this site — no matter what it pays.
